What is PRP/PRF?

Platelet Rich Plasma / Platelet Rich Fibrin

PRP/PRF uses your own blood, spun down to obtain plasma component, which is rich in cytokines, white blood cells, and growth factors- which help with tissue regeneration, collagen formation and healing.

This can be micro-needled into the skin and injected in areas of desired collagen growth such as under eyes, and in areas with deep wrinkles and volume loss.

PRP and PRF can be an alternative to dermal fillers or can complement the effects of dermal fillers.

PRF is often called “the new generation” of PRP. It is spun at a slower speed which creates a solution that’s more rich in healing cells. Unlike PRP tubes that usually contain an anti-coagulant (a product that keeps the blood from clotting) PRF is 100% natural.

Without an anticoagulant the PRF turns into a gel-like consistency in the body and therefore takes longer to break down; leaving more time for healing cells to be released. In aesthetic medicine this gel also has a temporary filler like result that eventually breaks down and is replaced by healthy new cells and collagen.

This is truly fantastic considering that the procedure only lasts about 45 minutes and for a complete treatment you need only 2 to 5 appointments. A nurse practitioner will draw blood from your vein and begin the PRP concentrate processing. Consent forms will be reviewed and signed, and photographs will be taken. While the PRP is being prepared, the treatment area will be cleansed and prepped. Injections take approximately 5 to 7 minutes.

For best results, four treatment sessions separated by four weeks are recommended, followed by one maintenance treatment every six months. The results are visible 4 to 12 months after the injections begin. The benefits of treatment will last as long as maintenance treatments are performed every 6 months.

The cost varies with each patient. Our provider charges per treatment area and some patients want multiple areas treated. Some patients have stronger muscles needing more of the medication injected in each area. Everyone has different needs.

Without any local anesthetic, the injections cause more pressure than pain. Expect six to a dozen per session around the front of the scalp, where you part your hair, and where you lose the most hair.

Measurable results usually take three to six months after your initial treatment.
